Mbalizi Hospital

Mbalizi Hospital is a District Designated Hospital (DDH) and was opened as a Mission hospital under the Mbalizi Evangelistic Church (MEC) in 2007. It is now run by the MEC and the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MoHSW) of Tanzania in collaboration. The Hospital is 20km west of Mbeya, one of the largest cities in Tanzania, in a village called Ifisi.

It has 200+ beds. The wards are divided into medical, surgical, obstetric and paediatrics. There is a small neonatal ward, which opened in May 2015. There are two operating theatres, a minor operations theatre and 2 dressing (wound care) rooms. General surgery and some plastic surgery and orthopaedic surgery is performed. There is an HIV treatment unit, a cervical screening service, a small psychiatric service, physio therapy and occupational therapy.
